Treetops Family Nurture Centre

I visited Treetops Family Nurture Centre recently to look at two Rocking horses, Ladybird and Rainbow who both needed restoring and repairing.

Ladybird was worked on first back in my workshop.

My work started by removing the horse from its stand which had become unstable due to the regular wear and tear usage. Ladybird also needed all the joints tightening up, then stained and varnished. As the body of the horse was weathered and rather scruffy, all the leather tack was required to be removed, then sanded all over, treated and varnished.The leatherwork was repaired and replaced where needed. Lastly Ladybird’s glorious mane and tail was fitted to provide the final touch.The children and staff were delighted when I took Ladybird back to Treetops.

I then brought back the other horse, Rainbow, to my workshop which needed the exact same work done as Ladybird.

It was great to have a visit from six of the children accompanied by four staff members so they could see me working away in my workshop on Rainbow.
